Since 2007, the old tradition of producing chocolate from cocoa beans has started again. Today, the company produces its own chocolate under the brand-name 1888 based on original recipy and methods from 1910.
History
Malmö Chokolad & Konfektfabriks AB (later Mazetti AB) was started in 1888 by Emil Mazetti-Nissen who came from Copenhagen.
The company had a wide range of chocolates, cocoa powders, vanilla sugar and hand-made pralines. It had some of the most popular confectionay brands in Sweden, some of which are still produced today.
The company was expanded in 1945 when the neighbour property, a brewery, was bought. In the 60’s it had the most modern cocoa production line in Europe. In 1975 it was sold and 1992-93 the factory was closed. In 2004, Malmö Chokladfabrik AB re-started the production of hand-made pralines and chocolate.
